Pill blasts third home run : Giants outfielder Brett Pill belted his third home run of the season during Sunday's contest against the Diamondbacks. Pill ripped the two-run shot off starter Joe Saunders in the fifth inning. That would turn out to be his only hit in the contests as Pill finished 1 for 5 with a pair of RBI in the 7-4 win. Fantasy Analysis
Pill continues to see time at mainly first base and the outfield for the Giants but has only started 11 games thus far. That makes tough for the 27-year-old to keep his timing at the plate as well as be a consistent Fantasy producer. Unless he starts playing everyday, Pill should only be owned in deeper NL-only formats. (Updated 05/13/2012).

05/13/2012 19:05 Cabrera, Blanco carry Giants to win
Melky Cabrera singled four times to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, Gregor Blanco drove in three runs with a pair of hits and the San Francisco Giants beat Arizona 7-3 on Sunday to take two of three from the Diamondbacks.
With the Giants out of contention and high-profile rookie Brandon Belt carving out a niche for himself in left field, Brett Pill got the majority of the starts at first base down the stretch last year, and he did anything but disappoint, collecting seven extra base hits -- three doubles, two triples and two homers -- in 50 at-bats to show that his breakthrough at Triple-A Fresno wasn't necessarily just a product of his advanced age. The offensively challenged Giants will have a hard time overlooking those numbers even if they're not coming from someone who they projected for a full-time role. Given his less-than-stellar pedigree and the fact he plays a position deep in offensive talent, Pill is still a long shot for such a role, but you can bet he'll throw his hat in the ring this spring. Even if he's able to earn semi-regular at-bats, his high contact rate and decent power could make him a factor in NL-only leagues. He's not much of a long-term keeper option, but he's relevant in Fantasy. (Updated 1/5/12)
