(9/27/14) Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon departed Saturday's game against Colorado in the second inning with right hip irritation, MLB.com reports. He was removed as a precaution, according to the report.
Gordon is hitting .289 with two homers and 34 RBI over 609 at-bats. His status remains uncertain for the final game of the regular season on Sunday.
|Dee Gordon catching break Wednesday against Rockies |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(9/17/14) Red-hot Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon will cool his heels Wednesday afternoon in Colorado. He is out of the lineup in favor of Darwin Barney, who will also assume his leadoff spot.
Gordon owns a 10-game hitting streak with seven multi-hit games. He is 18 of 41 during that stretch with 14 runs scored and four stolen bases.
|Dee Gordon 'runs' wild in win over Atlanta |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(8/14/14) The Dodgers scored six runs Thursday in Atlanta. Second baseman and leadoff hitter Dee Gordon tallied four of them.
Gordon singled in the first, fifth and ninth innings and walked in the third. He crossed the plate after each of those visits to the basepaths. Not bad considering he'd scored just twice in his previous 10 games combined.
|Dee Gordon was once a burgeoning star in the Dodgers' farm system, climbing as high as No. 26 on Baseball America's top 100 prospect list, and on track to be the team's shortstop of the future. But like many prospects before him, he hasn't been able to carry his minor-league success to the majors. With Cuban defector Alex Guerrero not ready to take over at second base yet, Gordon has one more chance to establish himself in the majors, this time on the other side of the diamond. With poor plate discipline, he'll have to hit to make the most of his blazing speed, and Fantasy owners should know pretty soon whether or not that's going to happen. As a middle infielder with the potential for a high steal total, Gordon is obviously worth drafting in Rotisserie leagues, but you wouldn't want to invest more than a late-round pick in him.
