(4/3/14) Athletics pitcher Josh Lindblom gave up two earned runs on five hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings while striking out two Wednesday, but he didn't factor into the decision in his team's 6-4 loss to the Indians.
Lindblom was making a spot start in the second half of a doubleheader Wednesday, and he did a good job keeping his team in the game despite not lasting five innings. He'll head back to the minors until Oakland needs him again.

(4/2/14) Athletics right-hander Josh Lindblom will be promoted from Triple-A Sacramento to start the second game of the day-light doublehader Wednesday against Cleveland.
Lindblom has made just five career starts, all last season with Texas. He stuggled mightily in that role, yielding 19 runs in 27 innings. But his only decent start was in a no-decision against the Indians, against whom he gave up three runs in six innings and fanned six.
|Athletics and Rangers swap Craig Gentry for Michael Choice |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/3/13) The Athletics have acquired outfielder Craig Gentry from the Rangers, according to Yahoo!
Oakland will send over 24-year-old outfielder Michael Choice as part of the deal. The club will also send infielder Chris Bostick in the deal. The Rangers will send pitcher Josh Lindblom to Oakland to complete the trade. Gentry hit .280/.373/.386 in 246 at-bats last season. Choice spent most of the season in Triple-A, hitting .302/.390/.445. He received 18 at-bats in the majors.
|Though he was already established as a reliever at the major-league level, have compiled a 3.55 ERA in 74 appearances for the Dodgers and Phillies in 2012, the Rangers tried their hardest to make Josh Lindblom a starter last year. He took to the role pretty well in the minors, compiling a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 6.6 strikeouts per nine innings in the extremely hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, but even there, he ran into some trouble when his innings began to pile up in the second half. During his brief time in the majors, he wasn't exactly a disaster, but only one of his five starts was a quality start. And he was at his best in his three relief appearances. The Rangers shipped Lindblom to the Athletics in the offseason, which might indicate they were less than thrilled with the experiment. He'll have an even harder time cracking the starting rotation in Oakland and could wind up working in relief again. Since he doesn't have an especially high ceiling at age 26 anyway, you can ignore Lindblom on Draft Day.
