| Shane Robinson understands role |

(4/16/13) Cardinals outfielder Shane Robinson received his first start on Tuesday night against the Pirates.
Robinson and manager Mike Matheny have had open communication about his role after the 28-year-old batted .438 during spring training, MLB.com reports.
"I'm at least more comfortable with understanding how things are working out and how they need to use me, why they want to use me in certain spots instead of others," Robinson said. "I'm on the same page with Mike. Nothing has been out of the ordinary. It's a lot easier that way when you know exactly what your manager is thinking and what he wants to do."

(3/11/13) Cardinals outfielder Shane Robinson has been one of the biggest surprises during spring training this year. Through March 10, Robinson only trails Alex Gordon in batting average with a .519 clip through 11 games. Robinson also has three homers, four doubles, 11 runs and 11 RBI.

Jon Jay homered and drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth and Allen Craig and Daniel Descalso each hit home runs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

Martin slams two of Pirates four homers in win
Rookie Jeff Locke pitched seven innings of three-hit ball and Russell Martin had two of Pittsburgh's four home runs in a 9-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday that gave the Pirates a series win and the NL Central lead.
