| Collin Cowgill sent to minors |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (5/3/13) The Mets optioned outfielder Collin Cowgill to Triple-A Las Vegas Friday after failing to shake his hitting slump. Cowgill has gone hitless in his past seven games and has eight hits in 51 at-bats this season for a .157 batting average.

| Prospect's promotion to affect Collin Cowgill |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/23/13) Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday Juan Lagares' promotion will have an impact on the playing time of outfielder Collin Cowgill, who is batting .200 (8 for 40) through 13 games. Cowgill has two home runs and eight RBI, but he has no walks and a .200 on-base percentage, which troubles Collins, according to The Star-Ledger.
"He’s got to be the kind of guy that gets on base for us because as we saw in spring training, when he gets on he scores," Collins said. "He’s a very, very good baserunner. He’s got to start hitting some balls the other way."

| Collin Cowgill drives in two vs. Nats |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (4/20/13) Mets outfielder Collin Cowgill had a two-run single in the fourth off starter Gio Gonzalez Saturday at the Nationals. He was 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI in a 7-6 loss. He is hitting .205/.205/.385 with two home runs and eight RBI in 39 at-bats.

| Collin Cowgill back in lineup |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (4/9/13) Mets outfielder Collin Cowgill has returned to the lineup against the Phillies.
Cowgill and Kirk Nieuwenhuis have been platooning, with Cowgill seeing time against lefties. Cowgill will face Cliff Lee Tuesday.

| Collin Cowgill rotating out for Mets |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (4/6/13) Mets outfielder Collin Cowgill was absent from the starting lineup for the second straight day Saturday against the Marlins. Kirk Nieuwenhuis took his spot in center field as New York looks to provide other players some starts at the beginning of the season.
"It's not something that Collin hasn't done, it just that I've been trying to get these guys in the lineup, this particualr time of year and I am gonna get Collin back in there," manager Terry Collins told the New York Daily News. "At some time you are gonna need those guys, be it to pinch hit in a big situation and the only way they are gonna stay sharp is to get a game in here and there."

| Heading into 2013 with his third team in three seasons, Collin Cowgill returns to the National League with the Mets after getting traded from the Diamondbacks to the Athletics last offseason. In his first two seasons as a big leaguer, Cowgill actually spent more time at Triple-A than in the majors, and he failed to help Fantasy owners much with stolen bases, even though he showed off his speed in the minors. All three of the Mets' projected starting outfielders -- Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter -- are lefties, so the right-handed Cowgill should get plenty of at-bats against southpaws. Perhaps this is the season that he can hit double digits in stolen bases, but even if he does, Cowgill probably won't do much else to aid Fantasy owners. He is strictly an option for NL-only leagues.
