| Jordy Mercer to see majority of playing time at shortstop |

(6/17/13) Pirates manager Clint Hurdle revealed Monday that infielder Jordy Mercer will receive the majority of playing time at shortstop moving forward, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Mercer has played shortstop from start to finish in five of the team's last nine games while going 9 for 21 with four doubles at the plate. He has hit .289/.312/.489 with three home runs, six RBI and two stolen bases in 90 at-bats.

(6/7/13) Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer doubled twice in Friday's 2-0 victory over the Cubs.
Mercer finished 2 for 5 with a run scored. He's still struggling to get on base (.276 OBP), but Mercer has 10 extra-base hits in just 74 at-bats, including three home runs. His slugging percentage is up to a robust .486.

(5/26/13) Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer went 3 for 4 in a win Sunday over Milwaukee.
Mercer tripled, stole a base and had an RBI. He's hitting .300/.314/.580 in 50 at-bats. Still, he has started just three of the last eight games and appears to be behind Clint Barmes on the depth chart.

(5/15/13) The Pirates recalled infielder Jordy Mercer from Triple-A Indianapolis Wednesday after placing John McDonald (back) on the 15-day disabled list. Mercer hit .258 (8 for 31) with three home runs and four RBI in nine games in his first stint with Pittsburgh this season.

(5/13/13) The Pirates have optioned infielder Jordy Mercer to Triple-A Indianapolis Monday.
The move was expected, as the team needed to make room for second baseman Neil Walker. Mercer played in nine games with the team. He had a .258 average, but managed to slug three home runs in his brief appearance.
