| With Logan Morrison shelved with a knee injury, Bryan Petersen spent most of the last two months of the 2012 season as the Marlins' starting left fielder. After showing some promise in his 2011 rookie campaign, Peterson had far less success last year, hitting just .195 with 12 extra-base hits (no home runs) in 241 at-bats. With Morrison moving to first base and Juan Pierre signed to play left field, Petersen's best chance at playing time will come in center field, but most likely, that position will go to Justin Ruggiano. That leaves Petersen as a fourth outfielder, so with sporadic playing time and modest power, he doesn't figure to make much of a Fantasy impact. He has shown the ability to hit for average and post a high on-base percentage, so Petersen does have some allure for owners in deeper NL-only leagues. (Updated 1/2/13) |
