Padres' Cory Luebke throws 30 fastballs in bullpen Sunday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(3/29/15) Padres pitcher Cory Luebke threw about 30 fastballs his first bullpen session Sunday, U-T San Diego reports.
"It went well. We wanted to make sure we got through it with no pain and we accomplished that," Luebke said, per MLB.com. "I tried not to let it go too much but at the same time I wanted to get my work in and get my feet wet again. It was good to get the rust out. It's been going on three years. It's the first time I've thrown on a mound without pain in a long time."
Luebke is returning from two Tommy John surgeries and hasn't appeared in a game since April 2012.

|(3/16/15) Padres pitcher Corey Luebke will start throwing off flat surface on Tuesday, in hopes of moving to mound work later in the week, according to MLB.com. Luebke is working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery in as many years, and is destined to remain behind in Arizona for extended spring training.
Padres' Josh Johnson, Cory Luebke progressing well in rehab

|(3/15/15) Padres pitchers Josh Johnson and Cory Luebke are still on their way back from Tommy John surgery, but manager Bud Black has been encouraged by their progress, reports MLB.com.
"They're on their way back. They're on a throwing protocol. J.J. is a little bit ahead of Corey in that regard. He's going to get to the mound later this month. I don't know the exact date. Corey is a little bit behind. But he's fine. His elbow feels good."
Lubke is hoping to be throwing off a flat surface in a week, but the team will be cautious with his recovery.
"And he's had a little bit of soreness through December and January where Josh hasn't," Black added.
Padres' Corey Luebke one month from throwing off mound?
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(2/19/15) Padres pitcher Corey Luebke reported to camp Thursday and said he may be a month away from throwing off a mound as he continues to recover from Tommy John surgery, U-T San Diego reports.
Luebke acknowledged that he won't be ready to pitch in games when camp breaks and that he might have to remain behind in Arizona for extended spring training.
"But I'm hoping early part of the season to be facing hitters," he said. "I'm not naive enough to think -- I mean, it's been three years almost (since Luebke's first Tommy John surgery). There is a difference between getting healthy and competing."
Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of Luebke's second Tommy John surgery in as many years. He recently resumed throwing after taking several weeks off and is playing catch at 60 feet.
