Fantasy Analysis
Luebke now begins the long road back to the majors. It usually takes pitchers at least a year to recover from Tommy John surgery. Luebke can be cut in all seasonal Fantasy formats and has low-end Fantasy appeal in long-term keeper leagues. (Updated 05/24/2012).

04/07/2012 00:50 Billingsley whiffs 11, allows only 3 hits
Chad Billingsley came within two outs of a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing only three hits in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 6-0 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.
Cory Luebke was not much of a strikeout pitcher in the upper minors, so it was a mild surprise to see him get more than a K per inning as a reliever early last season. The lefty, whose fastball can touch the mid-90s, continued to display his strikeout moxie by maintaining his pace even after he was added to the rotation for 17 starts. Luebke did fade a bit down the stretch, posting a 4.46 ERA over his last six starts, but his extended time in the bullpen kept his innings total down and should keep him fresh for a full year of starting in 2012. It remains to be seen how much run support the revamped Padres lineup will provide this year, but Luebke should do enough to help his own cause to make him a valuable arm in standard mixed league formats. He is worth a mid-round pick in Rotisserie formats, but has a little more value in Head-to-Head leagues, due to his eligibility to be used as a relief pitcher. (Updated 2/17/12)
