| (7/2/10) According to MLB.com, the A's claimed RP Jeff Lyman off waivers from the Braves on Friday. He posted a 4.84 ERA in 22 appearances between Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi, but Oakland plans to use him differently. "We'd like to develop him as a starter," assistant general manager David Forst said. "We think he can be stretched out as a starter and help us out that way." |
| Braves trim spring roster by six |
| (3/21/10) The Braves trimmed their spring roster by six players Sunday, optioning two players and re-assigning four others. Left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn and right-handed pitcher Jeff Lyman were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. The four players who were re-assigned to minor league camp include left-handed pitcher Mariano Gomez, catcher Orlando Mercado and outfielders Brent Clevlen and Mitch Jones. |
| Lyman impresses Cox in spring debut |
| (3/3/10) Braves RP Jeff Lyman, the team's second-round pick in 2005, pitched a perfect inning of relief Wednesday against the Mets, and manager Bobby Cox said both he and Mike Minor are in the running for one of the setup jobs for new closer Billy Wagner. "They threw strikes," Cox said. "Minor reminds me a little of Tommy Hanson. Both of them were in the zone." |
