Morris pitching well out of 'pen: The Pirates recently moved prospect Bryan Morris from the rotation to the bullpen at Double-A Altoona, and the right-hander has done well in his new role. He has made five relief appearances thus far, including picking up a three-inning save on Sunday. While Morris will ascend through the minors as a reliever, the team has not ruled out moving him back to the rotation down the line. "What role Bryan eventually fills at the major league level will ultimately be determined by him," director of player development Kyle Stark told MLB.com Monday. "Not all starters in the big leagues transitioned from the minor leagues as starters." (Updated 06/20/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Morris went 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA in six starts before the Pirates decided to make the move. He has posted a 2.03 ERA in five relief appearances since, including collecting three saves with 11 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings pitched. The 24-year-old is ranked as one of the better prospect in the system and could end up becoming a starter again down the line. Or he could challenge Evan Meek for the closer's role down the line. But since he is likely a year or two away from making an impact at the major-league level, continue to view Morris as more of a long-term prospect at this point. (Updated 06/20/2011).
