| Tyler Chatwood expected to start Sunday |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/16/13) The Rockies are expected to call up pitcher Tyler Chatwood from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace Jeff Francis in the rotation, according to the Denver Post. Chatwood is expected to start Sunday against the GIants.
Drew Pomeranz was the only other candidate to start in Francis' place, but he started Thursday at Triple-A, which rules him out for Sunday. Chatwood is 2-1 with a 3.14 ERA in five starts at Triple-A. He struck out 29, walked five and has not surrendered a home in the minors.

| Tyler Chatwood sent to Triple-A |
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com (5/5/13) The Rockies optioned pitcher Tyler Chatwood to Triple-A Colorado Springs Sunday to clear a spot on the active roster for Jhoulys Chacin after he was activated from the disabled list. Chatwood made two starts in Chacin's absence, posting a 1-0 record and 3.00 ERA while working six innings in each outing.
"I feel pretty good with everything I'm doing right now," Chatwood told The Denver Post. "I just have to continue building on that."

| Tyler Chatwood was overmatched as a rookie with the Angels in 2011, so when he was traded to Colorado last offseason, it didn't bode well for his short-term success. Initially used in a long relief role, Chatwood did in fact struggle, but after a couple of stints in the minors, he improved upon returning as a starter. All things are relative: Chatwood's 4.88 ERA in the rotation is a positive only in relation to his 7.62 ERA out of the bullpen. Chatwood did do a better job of inducing grounders and avoiding homers as a starter. However, he still walked too many batters, and his inefficiency didn't help him to pitch deep into games, especially since he was already constrained by the Rockies' restrictive pitch counts. The Rockies may not have the majors' most formidable rotation, but Chatwood will still have to have a strong spring to earn a spot in it. He should only be considered in deep NL-only leagues.
