| Angels elects free agency |
| (3/1/13) The Los Angeles Angels outrighted reliever Bobby Cassevah on Thursday, under a week after his only spring training appearance, in which he walked two batters and allowed a hit in one inning of work. He declined the assignment and elected to become a free agent. "He just wasn't really at a point right now to go out and win a position with us," Angels manager Mike Scioscia told the Los Angeles Daily News. "There's a possibility of him coming back to earn a spot, try to get on our depth chart, but right now he wasn't throwing the ball the way he's capable and there's a lot of guys we need to see."
