(5/13/13) Indians reliever Nick Hagadone's last outing Saturday against the Tigers didn't go quite as planned. The left-handed reliever entered the game with Cleveland leading by five runs, but he was gone before recording an out.
Hagadone was pulled after loading the bases and all three runners scored, sending his ERA soaring from 2.08 to 5.19.
"It's been pretty good overall," Hagadone said of his performance this season, per MLB.com. "But no, I've definitely had other outings where my stuff wasn't there. Sometimes you get lucky and you get out of the inning without getting hurt, and sometimes you don't. I didn't last time."
Hagadone does have 11 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings, but he's also issued eight walks, including two Saturday.
"When I'm ahead in the count, it enables me to be a lot more successful," Hagadone said. "They can't eliminate my slider if I'm ahead in the count and if I'm throwing that for strikes."

(5/6/13) The Indians recalled reliever Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus Monday to help the bullpen after Vinnie Pestano was put on the disabled list, MLB.com reports.
The 27-year-old Hagadone was with the club earlier in the year for eight appearances. He had a 2.45 ERA with eight Ks over 7 1/3 innings.

(5/1/13) If the Indians had any other options, reliever Nick Hagadone would not have been optioned to Triple-A Columbus, but they needed a spot on the 25-man roster for Trevor Bauer Wednesday.
"We didn't want to do it, and we told him that," manager Terry Francona told MLB.com. "We had a short visit with him last night and explained to him that, unfortunately right now, this is what we need to do. We don't want him to be in Triple-A. It wasn't because of anything he did. It was strictly that. I think he was disappointed, but I think he understood."
Hagadone has a 2.45 ERA on the season, but has appeared in just eight games as the eighth man in the bullpen. Hagadone cannot be recalled for 10 days, unless the team has to place a player on the disabled list.

(5/1/13) Indians pitcher Nick Hagadone was optioned to the minors Wednesday to make room for Trevor Bauer.
It had been speculated that Hagadone would be demoted from the team's major-league roster. Through 7 1/3 innings, he has a 2.45 ERA. He should still factor into the team's plans going forward.
|Nick Hagadone went from being one of baseball's top prospects in 2010 to a disaster in 2012, as he was placed on the disqualified list after breaking his wrist -- an injury he brought upon himself with a frustrated punch after a bad outing. Hagadone had an impressive minor league career, but was sporting a 6.39 ERA in 25 1/3 innings with Cleveland before the injury last year. He's slated to be a member of the Cleveland bullpen in 2012 and has no Fantasy value at this time. (Updated 1/4/13)|
