White settles down after rough start: After two innings on Wednesday against the Marlins, Rockies starting pitcher Alex White looked like he might not be long for the game, as he allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in those first two frames to fall behind early. However, White calmed down from that point on, allowing only three more hits and getting through six innings, long enough for the offense to lift him up and get him his first win of the season, 8-4. White finished the game with eight hits and one walk allowed in six innings, with four runs crossing the plate. He struck out three in the game. (Updated 05/23/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
White deserves credit for being able to work out of his early struggles on Wednesday, as the 23-year-old showed unusual poise for his age. His line was not pretty, but ultimately, it could have been worse. His record now stands at 1-3 on the season, with a 5.32 ERA heading into Week 9 (May 28-June 3), when he is a two-start pitcher. He is set to face the Astros on Monday and Dodgers on Sunday in the scoring period, the fourth and seventh-based offenses in the National League, respectively, and should remain just an NL-only Fantasy option. 05/08/2012 17:01 Erickson on White & Friedrich
Rotowire.com's Jeff Erickson joins the Fantasy Baseball 360 crew to give his opinion on the viability of Colorado pitchers Alex White and Christian Friedrich.
The Rockies acquired Alex White in the deal that sent ace Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians last July, but he didn't pay many returns in his first starts with his new club. In seven starts with Colorado, White went 2-4 with an 8.42 ERA. It didn’t help that White allowed more than a home run every other inning in his home starts, but he struggled mightily with his command, even when he was away from Coors Field. The rookie also battled a finger injury for much of the year, but with better health, owners should expect better results. White competed for a rotation spot this spring, but he failed to claim his place among the starting five out of camp. He is not even guaranteed a bullpen role, but he could still emerge in the rotation at some point this season. White is a risk to draft in any single-season format, but he is still a worthwhile target in long-term keeper leagues. (Updated 3/27/12)
