|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(4/5/13) Astros pitcher Alex White will undergo Tommy John surgery, the team announced.
White was acquired by the team in an offseason trade with Colorado. White was one of the prospects involved in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal, but struggled with the Rockies last year. In 98 major-league innings last season, White had a 5.51 ERA and a 5.23 FIP.

(4/2/13) Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow told MLB.com on Tuesday that the team was still waiting on the results of a second opinion on Alex White. White is on the 60-day disabled list due to a sprained right elbow and could require Tommy John surgery.
Luhnow said the team hopes to have more information by the end of the day Wednesday.

(3/31/13) Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow told the Houston Chronicle on Sunday that injured pitcher Alex White could require Tommy John surgery.
White was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Saturday due to a right elbow strain and the club is expected to see a second opinion after the right-hander underwent an MRI.
“We’ll have a long discussion about the course of action,” Luhnow said. “The reason we put him on the 60 is he’s not going to throw for at least a couple weeks. And then you talk about building him back up and rehabbing. You do all that math and you’re close to 60, so why put pressure on ourselves?”
|Alex White to undergo more tests on injured elbow |

(3/31/13) Astros pitcher Alex White, already on the 60-day disabled list with elbow issues, is scheduled to undergo more tests, MLB.com reports.
White allowed a brutal 6.83 ERA in 16.2 spring innings and was shut down late in March. There remains no timetable for his return, but he is eligible to come off the disabled list in early June.

(3/30/13) The Astros placed pitcher Alex White on the 60-day disabled list Saturday as he continues to deal with elbow discomfort, the Houston Chronicle reports. White also told reporters that he has dealt with minor triceps tendinitis throughout spring training.
He will be re-evaluated Sunday and is unsure if his injury will require surgery.
White posted a 6.86 ERA in 16 2/3 innings of work this spring, which may be partly attributed to his injury. He is eligible to return from the disabled list in early June.
