(5/21/13) The Cubs claimed reliever Eduardo Sanchez off waivers from the Cardinals Tuesday. Sanchez, who will be assigned to Triple-A Iowa, had a 3.72 ERA and one save in nine relief appearances for Triple-A Memphis.
Sanchez, who pitched in the majors from 2011-12, is 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and five saves in 43 career appearances. He has struck out 48 batters in 45 innings.

(6/30/12) The Cardinals made a couple of moves Saturday to try to shore up their bullpen, optioning relievers Eduardo Sanchez and Sam Freeman to Triple-A Memphis, while recalling Maikel Cleto and purchasing the contract of Barret Browning from Memphis. The team moved Kyle McClellan to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Rafael Furcal and pinch-hitting pitcher Joe Kelly drove in runs in the 10th inning and the St. Louis Cardinals, who scored four runs in the top of the ninth, held on to beat the Miami Marlins 8-7 on Monday night for their fourth straight victory.
