Braves P Mike Minor has shoulder surgery, will miss rest of season
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(5/14/15) Braves left-handed pitcher Mike Minor underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season, the club announced.
Previously, the Braves had placed Minor on the 60-day disabled list in June. Once Minor needed to opt for surgery, it became likely that he would be forced to sit out the rest of the year.
Minor first began experiencing shoulder discomfort a year ago, which led to a 6-12 season with a 4.77 ERA.
The Braves described Minor's shoulder procedure as "successful."
Report: Braves' Mike Minor to have surgery, may be done for 2015

|(5/12/15) Braves starting pitcher Mike Minor will undergo a surgical procedure to his left shoulder later this week, almost certainly preventing the left hander from returning in June, as had been targeted, sources have told MLB.com.
Minor struggled with discomfort in his left shoulder last season, posting a disappointing 6-12 record in 25 starts with a 4.77 ERA.
According to Bill Shanks of FOX Sports 1670 and Scout.com, the surgery will likely prevent Minor, who began the season on the disabled list, from pitching in 2015.
Minor, 27, was shifted to the 60-day DL on May 2.

|(5/2/15) Braves pitcher Mike Minor won't be returning to the team until June, at the earliest.
Minor opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, with shoulder inflammation that shut him down during spring training.
The team shifted him to the 60-day DL on Saturday, opening up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Pedro Ciriaco, purchased from Triple-A.
John Hart said, "There has not been any measurable improvements that you want to see. At this point, things havent progressed," per MLB.com.
"We dont see him coming back anytime soon," Hart added.

Braves SP Mike Minor (shoulder) experiences pain after throwing
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(4/12/15) Braves starter Mike Minor returned to Atlanta to be examined after experiencing discomfort in his left shoulder after throwing off a mound earlier in the week, per MLB.com.
Minor had gone through flat-footed throwing exercises without any pain, but when throwing off a mound, continued to have a re-occurance of the injury that has sidelined him since March.
Braves general manager John Hart said it was too soon to explore any kind of surgery for Minor, who wasn't expected back into the team's rotation until May.
Wood pitches well for Braves in 6-5 win over Orioles
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez still has several decisions to make over the next couple of days. He needs to fill out his starting rotation, settle on a suspect outfield and pick an opening-day second baseman.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) Wandy Rodriguez made his latest bid to earn the final spot in Atlanta's rotation, pitching five innings for the Braves on Tuesday night in their 8-5 loss to the Houston Astros.

2015 Draft Prep: 10-team, NL-only Roto mock
While the pitching pool is deep in the National League, the hitting field has the opposite problem. Our Scott White takes a look at our latest 10-team, NL-only Roto mock draft.
|2014 summary: After a breakthrough 2013 in which he went 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 8.0 strikeouts per nine innings, Mike Minor appeared to fall back into some bad habits last year. Of course, it's not that simple. Offseason surgery to remove scar tissue from his urethra led to him being delayed for the start of spring training, which led to shoulder tendinitis, which led to him missing a month and not being quite right for the next three. For a six-start stretch in August and September, he looked more like himself, posting a 2.59 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP and 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings.|
Playing time status: Minor had renewed shoulder soreness in the two starts that followed, so the Braves, who were clearly out of the postseason picture at that point, opted to shut him down. All seemed well when he reported for spring training this year, but then he was scratched prior to his first start with what the Braves called tightness in the same shoulder. It sounds like just a minor issue that will sideline him for only the first couple weeks of the season, but given his history of shoulder troubles, you should be careful not to invest too much in Minor.
2015 outlook: At this time last year, Minor was considered a top-25 starting pitcher in Fantasy, so you wouldn't want to write them off because of one injury-plagued season. But now that he could be in for another one, a late-round pick seems most appropriate.
