|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/22/15) Braves starting pitcher Mike Minor, who was shut down in late September due to shoulder inflammation, said he has not experienced any discomfort while playing catch, per MLB.com. He hopes to throw off a mound starting Friday.
Minor went 6-12 with a 4.77 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 25 starts last season.

|(9/23/14) The Braves will skip Mike Minor this week and shut the pitcher down with shoulder inflammation, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
David Hale will fill Minor's spot Thursday against the Pirates. Minor was removed from his last start Saturday after just one inning with the shoulder issue. He finishes the season with a 4.77 ERA and 120:44 K:BB ratio in 145 1/3 innings.
Mike Minor pulled from start with shoulder discomfort
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(9/20/14) Braves pitcher Mike Minor lasted one inning Saturday due to shoulder discomfort.
Minor walked the first batter he faced, and hit the second. With two men on, he induced a flyout, putting both runners in scoring position. A sac fly brought home one run, but Minor was able to escape the inning without any more damage. The club did not provide an immediate update on Minor's status.
Minor is slated to take on the Pirates in his next start if he's healthy enough to go.
Mike Minor has major issues in loss to Rangers
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(9/14/14) Braves starter Mike Minor had major problems Sunday in Texas. He surrendered five runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings to lower his record to 6-11 as the playoff chances of his team continued to dwindle.
Minor was hanging in there until a brutal fifth inning in which he allowed three singles, two doubles, one walk and six runs - all after retiring the first two batters. He finished with three walks and one strikeout. Minor, who was coming off six straight quality starts, will try to turn it around Saturday against the Mets.
|2014 summary: After a breakthrough 2013 in which he went 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 8.0 strikeouts per nine innings, Mike Minor appeared to fall back into some bad habits last year. Of course, it's not that simple. Offseason surgery to remove scar tissue from his urethra led to him being delayed for the start of spring training, which led to shoulder tendinitis, which led to him missing a month and not being quite right for the next three. For a six-start stretch in August and September, he looked more like himself, posting a 2.59 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP and 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings.|
Playing time status: Minor had renewed shoulder soreness in the two starts that followed, so the Braves, who were clearly out of the postseason picture at that point, opted to shut him down. But while his shoulder plagued him throughout 2014, at no point did his velocity suffer because of it, which suggests it's probably not a long-term concern. The Braves certainly haven't indicated otherwise.
2015 outlook: At this time last year, Minor was considered a top-25 starting pitcher in Fantasy, so you wouldn't want to write them off because of one bad injury-plagued season. He may have to fight through some mechanical issues -- the tweaks he made last August were widely credited for his turnaround, which shows he's capable of falling into bad habits -- and even at his best, he's susceptible to the long ball. Still, his highs have been high enough for you target him as a bounce-back candidate in the middle rounds.
