Schlehuber apart of first cuts
(3/10/11) According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves cut 14 players from camp on Thursday. Among the players cut were: Erik Cordier, Michael Broadway and Jay Sborz; lefties Brett Oberholtzer, Lee Hyde and Jose Ortegano; catchers Christian Bethancourt, Braeden Schlehuber and Jesus Sucre; infielder Tyler Pastornicky, and outfielder Mycal Jones.
Johnson, 11 others cut by Braves
(3/16/10) Braves outfielder Cody Johnson was one of the players who didn't survive Atlanta's first round of cuts, according to MLB.com. Johnson, a 21-year-old outfielder who was the Braves first-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, batted .091 with two runs and four strikeouts in 11 Grapefruit League at-bats. He was among a group of non-roster invitees assigned to minor league camp. Also assigned were pitchers Chris Resop and Erik Cordier, and catchers Braeden Schlehuber and Jesus Sucre. Optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett were pitchers Lee Hyde, Steve Marek, James Parr and Todd Redmond. Optioned to Double-A Mississippi were pitchers Jose Ortegano, Juan Abreu and Kyle Cofield.
Braves expand spring roster Friday
(2/19/10) The Braves have added the following non-roster spring training invites: infielders Freddie Freeman and Brandon Hicks; catchers Braeden Schlehuber and Jesus Sucre; outfielders Matt Young and Cody Johnson; and pitchers Erik Cordier, Craig Kimbrel and Mike Minor.
