(4/22/13) The Mets signed reliever D.J. Mitchell to a minor-league contract on Monday. The right-hander will report to extended spring training.
Mitchell, 25, has made four career appearances in the majors and owns a 3.86 ERA.

Mitchell was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Endy Chavez.

(4/11/13) The Mariners designated pitcher D.J. Mitchell for assignment Thursday in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Endy Chavez after he was summoned from Triple-A Tacoma. Mitchell allowed three runs and walked seven batters in four innings during his only start with Tacoma this season.

Mitchell was added to allow the Mariners to designate outfielder Casper Wells for assignment. Mitchell will begin the season with Triple-A Tacoma.
