James 'really making progress': MLB.com reports Marlins VP of player development and scouting Jim Fleming said prospect Chad James is "really making progress" despite going winless in 12 starts (0-9) for Class A Jupiter. James, who sports a 3.10 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, has been able to locate his fastball and breaking ball consistently in the strike zone. "The numbers may not say that," Fleming said. "He has mound presence, he has really improved. He's a very high-strung, emotional guy, and he's learning how to control it." (Updated 06/10/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
James didn't exactly have the greatest of pro debuts in 2010 at low Class A (5-10, 5.12 ERA), but people forget that he was only a year removed from high school and still learning how to adjust to life as a pro. James seems to have a better handle on that this year and is making the progress the Marlins want to see. They have no reason to rush the left-hander, but James could earn a promotion to Double-A this season if he continues to progress. James remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper. (Updated 06/10/2011).
