| Trevor Crowe, Brandon Barnes out of everyday mix |
by Adam Moore | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) Astros manager Bo Porter named J.D. Martinez, Robbie Grossman and Jimmy Paredes the team's regular three starters in the outfield, MLB.com reports. Porter had been rotating Trevor Crowe and Brandon Barnes in the outfield over the past few weeks.
"I took the opportunity to talk to Barnes and Crowe today to let them know my decision," Porter said. "I told them I'm not going to leave them sitting for long periods of time."

| Brandon Barnes hits second home run |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/13/13) Astros outfielder Brandon Barnes hit his second home run of the season Sunday against the Rangers.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Barnes took a changeup over the left-field wall for a two-run homer. Barnes has seen his playing time increase in recent weeks, though he's not yet a full-time player. In 59 at-bats, Barnes is hitting .322/.403/.475.

| Brandon Barnes earns more playing time |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/1/13) Astros outfielder Brandon Barnes started for the third time in four games Tuesday against the Yankees. It's an attempt by manager Bo Porter to give Barnes more playing tme.
"Brandon has played outstanding, and I think he deserves some more at-bats," Porter said before Tuesday's game, per MLB.com. "He played well again last night, and that's why he's back in the lineup today and we'll continue to see how he takes advantage of the opportunity, but I want to find more opportunities for him."
Barnes is batting .435 (10 for 23) with one home run, two stolen bases, two doubles and five RBI in his last eight games.
"(Robbie) Grossman came here, and the plan was to give him an opportunity to see if he can play every day at the major-league level," Porter said, "but Brandon Barnes has done nothing to hurt his chances or [have an] opportunity to eventually be an everyday player. He came into the season with the notion he was only going to play against lefties, and he's coming to the ballpark today and starting against a right-hander. When you play well, from a manager's standpoint, it's my goal to keep the guys that are playing well in the lineup."

| Brandon Barnes drives in three runs |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/29/13) Astros outfielder Brandon Barnes recorded three hits and stole a base on Monday during a 9-1 win over the Yankees in New York.
Barnes drove in two runs with a double in the fourth inning and added his third RBI of the game with a single in the fifth. He stole his third base and finished 3 for 5 in the game.
Barnes is batting .405 after 37 at-bats. He's gone 7 for 13 in his last four games with two of his three steals.

| Brandon Barnes is a look-but-don't add player |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/21/13) Fantasy owners have taken an interest in Astros outfielder Brandon Barnes, seeing if he is worthy of adding in Fantasy. As I'm sure you will soon find out, Barnes is at best an AL-only Fantasy flier.
While Barnes had some 20-homer and 30-double seasons in the minors, Barnes slugged just .447 in 765 games, struck out plenty and was inconsistent, which is why he's spent most of his career down on the farm.
He's been seeing regular starts for the Astros, mostly against left-handed pitchers, but there's probably not enough upside here for most Fantasy owners to add Barnes in mixed leagues.
