|Tyler Moore clubs first home run Monday |
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
(4/14/14) Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore went 3 for 5 with his first home run of the season and two RBI in his team's 9-2 win over the Marlins Monday.
Moore was seeing his first start after striking out in all three of his pinch-hit at-bats leading up to Monday's game. He shook off the slow start to deliver a big line against the Marlins. Moore could work his way into regular playing time against southpaws.

(4/6/14) Nationals outfielder Tyler Moore has been called up to the majors Sunday.
Moore will take the roster spot of Scott Hairston, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to an oblique injury. Moore will likely spell Adam LaRoche at first, and could see a game or two in the outfield.
|Report: Astros in the market for a first baseman |

(3/18/14) The Astros are calling around the league looking to acquire a first baseman, according to ESPN.
They have inquired about Red Sox first baseman Mike Carp, Phillies first baseman John Mayberry and Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore, but all three players seem to be unlikely fits, according to baseball analyst Jayson Stark.
|Tyler Moore wants to avoid another 'lackadaisical' spring |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(1/28/14) Despite a down year in 2013, first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore is expected to win a spot on the Nationals' bench this spring. However, he's taking nothing for granted following what he deemed a "wakeup call" last year.
"I’m not given anything," Moore said Saturday at FanFest, per MLB.com. "I definitely have to earn what I’m gonna get. I’m just looking forward to it, looking forward to competing."
While Moore's numbers declined in '13 as he took on more of a bench role, he did perform well down the stretch once he returned from the minors. Moore hit .344 with a .375 on-base percentage and .834 OPS in his last 21 games following his recall.
He explained what might have contributed to his poor start last season.
"I think last year maybe I was a little too lackadaisical in spring, and that’s what I want to kind of correct this year because I know I don’t have an everyday job, obviously," Moore said. "I have to be ready to come in and hit when I have a chance, and when I have that chance, I have to take the best advantage of it."
|After a strong rookie campaign in 2012, Tyler Moore took a major step back in 2013 as he struggled to adjust to a bench role with the Nationals. In fact, Moore was eventually demoted to the minors to fix his swing, which was a move that paid dividends once he returned to the majors in mid-August. After batting .151 in his first 42 games, Moore would hit .344 with a .459 slugging percentage and .834 OPS over his final 21 games (15 starts). He started to look more like the player that had a .513 slugging percentage and .840 OPS in 75 games as a rookie. Moore is a good power hitter, but right now the Nationals just don't have everyday at-bats for him. It could eventually change under first-year manager Matt Williams, but it seems Moore will need an injury to befall a starter at first base or in the outfield before he has a chance to become an impact Fantasy option. Moore should be left for NL-only Fantasy formats.
