| Reds complete roster for opener |

(3/31/13) The Reds made several moves to finalize their roster for the regular season, reassigning second baseman Emmanuel Burriss, catcher Corky Miller and outfielders Denis Phipps and Derrick Robinson to their minor-league camp. Cincinnati also outrighted pitcher Jose Arredondo to Triple-A Louisville while optioning pitcher Logan Ondrusek to Double-A Pensacola.
Third baseman Jason Donald also was designated for assignment and the Reds purchased the contract of shortstop Cesar Izturis to take his place on the 40-man roster.

| In a 10 at-bat stretch late in 2012, Denis Phipps colected three hits -- including his first major league home run. He scored four times and walked once. Phipps, 27, has spent seven seasons in the minors -- hitting double-digit home runs four times and stealing double-digit bases five. There's an uneven track record with Phipps, who has a .262 career average but finished 2011 with a .346 average and 2012 with .231. He's best left undrafted in most formats and is probably not worth a pick in dynasty leagues. (Updated 12/12/12) |
