|Injured Diamondbacks outfielders slow to recover |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(8/13/14) The Diamondbacks have received bad news about two injured outfielders. Cody Ross, who has been sidelined with a calf strain for three weeks, was unable to take his run around the bases this weekend because his leg wasn't up to it. A.J. Pollock, meanwhile, is coming along slowly in his recovery from a fractured hand.
Pollock, who broke his hand on May 31, was hit on the same hand exactly two months later during a rehab assignment.
"When he got hit the second time, there's a lot of soreness there," Gibson told azcentral.com. "We're going to give him a couple of days off and try to get some of the inflammation out of there. It feels like it's a little too sore to maybe proceed right now."

(8/5/14) Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock moved his minor-league rehab assignment from the Arizona League (rookie) to Triple-A Reno Monday. Pollock played the field and wasn't much of a factor at the dish. He finished 0 for 5. Pollock has been on the disabled list since May 31 due to a broken right hand.

(8/1/14) Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock began his minor-league rehab assignment for the team's rookie-league affiliate in Arizona Thursday, as he works his way back from a broken right hand.
Pollock went hitless in two trips to the plate, though he was able to shake off a hit-by-pitch after popping up in his first at-bat. Pollock has not played since May 31 due to the injury, and could need a fairly extensive rehab assignment before he can return to the majors.
|A.J. Pollock to take live batting practice Tuesday |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(7/28/14) Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock will take live batting practice Tuesday, according to MLB.com.
Pollock will take batting practice against rehabbing pitcher Daniel Hudson. Pollock will then head out on a rehab assignment if that goes well. Pollock has been out since May 31 due to a hand injury. He hit .316/.366/.554 over 177 prior to fracturing his hand.
|A.J. Pollock was on track to open the 2013 season in the minors until center fielder Adam Eaton suffered a sprained elbow late in spring training, which opened up regular playing time for the budding outfield prospect. Pollock got off to a promising start, batting .309 through 16 games, which included a two-homer game April 10. Unfortunately, he couldn't sustain and would lose his regular playing time. Pollock finished with a .269 average, .322 on-base percentage, .409 slugging percentage and .730 OPS in 137 games. He totaled five triples, eight home runs, 28 doubles, 38 RBI, 64 runs and 12 stolen bases. Pollock's strengths in the minors were hitting for average, getting on base, scoring runs and posting moderate stolen-base numbers. He is strong enough defensively to earn regular playing time, but he's not expected to be a standout for Fantasy owners. Pollock might open the season as a fourth outfielder, so consider him an NL-only Fantasy option.
