Fantasy Analysis
Thames was hitting .308 at the end of April, but May has not been kind to the young slugger, who is batting .200 in his last 18 games. He also has 23 strikeouts in May. Thames has lost some starts to Rajai Davis lately, but he's still seeing most of the starts in left field for Toronto. He just has low-end Fantasy appeal until he gets on track offensively. After injuries hindered his rise to the majors early in his career, Eric Thames showed last year why he was considered an intriguing prospect for the Blue Jays. Thames received his first call to Toronto in mid-May and boasted a quality .306 batting average at the end of June. Granted, he spent two weeks in the minors during the month of June. But Thames also recorded at least a .275 average in both July and August, and also belted eight home runs and 24 RBI in that span. The 25-year-old seemed to tire at the end of the season and limped to a .211 mark in September and also struck out 23 times in 95 at-bats. Thames was able to beat out Travis Snider for the starting left field job during spring training, so consider him an enticing late-round option in mixed leagues. (Updated 3/25/12)
