| Jamey Carroll starting Tuesday |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/21/13) Twins infielder Jamey Carroll is in the team's starting lineup Tuesday against the Braves.
Carroll will play second and hit leadoff against Braves pitcher Tim Hudson. In 56 at-bats, Carroll is hitting .304/.361/.339. Carroll replaces Brian Dozier, who has been the team's normal second baseman and leadoff hitter recently.

| Jamey Carroll picks up three hits |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/15/13) Twins infielder Jamey Carroll led off and recorded three hits on Wednesday against Chicago. It wasn't enough to avoid a 9-4 Minnesota loss.
Carroll doubled and drove in a run in the sixth inning with a single to center. He finished 3 for 5 with two runs and is batting .292.
The 39-year-old has provided a nice spark for Minnesota atop the order. He has hit in three straight games and four of five. Carroll has scored a run in five straight with eight total over that span.

| Jamey Carroll in leadoff spot Tuesday |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (5/7/13) Twins shortstop Jamey Carroll will bat leadoff Tuesday.
Carroll has mainly been used as a backup infielder this season, but will get a spot start against the Red Sox. Brian Dozier has been in the leadoff spot for team, but will be bumped to the ninth spot in the lineup so Carroll can hit first.

| Jamey Carroll taking bench role in stride |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (4/18/13) Twins infielder Jamey Carroll has had to adjust to a new role this season, MLB.com reports. He's simply a bench player.
Carroll has made just two starts over the team's first 13 games and wasn't in Wednesday's lineup before the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
The 12-year veteran is taking things in stride, though. He said the key is being prepared and ready for each game, even if he doesn't see action.
"You just come in and wait and see and then you adjust otherwise," Carroll said. "But you have to go out and try to get and stay as game-ready as possible. When you get that opportunity, you also understand that it may be a long time since you played and to not try to put that extra pressure on yourself, which is tough. But at the same time, you understand your expectations of what it is and you hope that on the other side they understand that expectation level as well."
For what it is worth, manager Ron Gardenhire said Carroll will see plenty of playing time yet this season.

| Jamey Carroll not in starting lineup much |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/8/13) Twins utility infielder Jamey Carroll has made only one start through the team's first seven games, including Monday's game at Kansas City. Carroll, however, made three appearances in the team's first six games.
He's batting .250 (1 for 4) with one walk, two runs and no RBI.

| When the Twins signed Jamey Carroll to a two-year, $6.75 million deal prior to last season, it seemed a little loopy. Why would a small-market club pay a slap-hitting, 38-year-old reserve infielder that much money? Hey, they had to fill that gaping hole at shortstop somehow. Needless to say, it didn't turn out so well. Carroll walked enough to keep the Twins coming back to him when all their other middle infield options faltered, but he was more of a stopgap than a solution no matter where they stuck him. As the Twins stand now, he figures to fill the same role in 2013, which is of course amazing news for Fantasy owners. The ones who like sarcasm, anyway. If you reach the end of an AL-only draft and still haven't filled your middle infield spot, Carroll will at least give you some at-bats. That's about the extent of his value, though.
