Fantasy Analysis
Downs sure looked good on Tuesday night, but he's not the closer for the Angels. He's just an excellent reliever who will come up huge in the team's chase for the playoffs. Downs is not a Fantasy option to consider, however, as he's just a reliever for Fantasy leagues that care about them. (Updated 09/20/2011).

09/14/2011 19:02 Weaver wins career-high 17th, Angels keep pace
Jered Weaver went seven innings for his career-best 17th win, Mark Trumbo hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 4-1 on Wednesday.
Scott Downs signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Angels last offseason and proved to be a valuable arm out of the bullpen once again. The left-hander posted a career-low 1.34 ERA in 60 appearances with a 6-3 record. He also went 1 for 4 in save chances but was mainly used as a middle reliever. While his 2.17 ERA over the last five seasons makes him an attractive option in Fantasy, his strikeouts and lack of save chances hinders his value. Plan on leaving Downs for AL-only formats and those leagues that use middle men on Draft Day. (Updated 1/11/12)
