Fantasy Analysis
Patterson split the 2011 season between Toronto and St. Louis. He played in 133 games, but he is no longer an everyday outfielder. If he somehow makes the Brewers roster, then it will be as a reserve. Ignore him in Fantasy. (Updated 01/30/2012).
09/16/2011 22:58 Phillies fall to Cards in 11, fail to clinch NL East
Adron Chambers drove in the go-ahead run with his first major league hit and Tyler Greene added an RBI double in the 11th inning to help St. Louis beat Philadelpha 4-2, keeping the Cardinals' playoff push alive while putting the Phillies' title celebration on hold.
09/12/2011 22:37 Pirates nip Cards, dim St. Louis' playoff hopes
Pedro Ciriaco hit a tiebreaking double to cap a three-run rally in the eighth inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates stunned St. Louis 6-5 on Monday night, damaging the Cardinals' playoff chances.
Since the beginning of the 2009 season, Corey Patterson has played with five different teams, splitting time with Milwaukee, Washington, Baltimore, Toronto and St. Louis. Add a reunion with the Brewers for the 2012 campaign onto the expanding list. The 32-year-old outfielder signed a minor-league contract with Milwaukee in late January that included an invite to spring training. Patterson played 44 games for the Cardinals last season and produced a subpar .157 batting average, while driving in only three runs. He is no longer an everyday player and will compete for a spot on the bench during spring training. Patterson has not been a key Fantasy contributor in recent years and is only valuable for his speed as he swiped 13 bases for the Blue Jays last season. Even if he earns a spot with the Brewers to open the season, Fantasy owners should not look in his direction during 2012 drafts as playing time will certainly be at a premium. (Updated 2/12/12)
