Latest News
Last year, Eckstein played second base for the Padres -- his fourth team in four seasons -- and offered the same uninspiring numbers he always does. His .657 OPS marked the fifth time in seven years he finished below .700, which is well below the league average already, and he finished with only one home run and three stolen bases. At age 35, he seems better suited for a reserve role, but the rebuilding Padres might have no choice but to start him. He has value in NL-only leagues just because he stands to get regular at-bats, but he has zero upside and offers below-average numbers in every category. But hey, at least he doesn't strike out much.
