Garland not with Indians after all: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Jon Garland will not be joining the Indians on a minor league deal as expected. MLB.com reported over the weekend that the two parties had yet to finalize their deal, and Garland never took the physical that had been scheduled for him on Monday. He is reportedly still in the process of rehabbing his shoulder, on which he had surgery last July. (Updated 02/22/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Even if Garland had completed his deal with Cleveland, he would have had to compete with several other pitchers for the fifth starter's role. Even that job would have been temporary, as he likely would have been booted from the rotation once Roberto Hernandez (formerly Fausto Carmona) was ready to return from his legal troubles in the Dominican Republic. Garland may catch on with another team, but until he does, he can be ignored in virtually all upcoming drafts and auctions. (Updated 02/22/2012).
