| Jon Garland drops third straight |

(5/21/13) Rockies starter Jon Garland was no match for Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks Monday in Colorado. The Arizona starter pitched a complete game and Garland lasted only six innings.
Garland allowed five earns runs and scattered 11 hits over 97 pitches. He walked one and did not record a strikeout. His ERA is 5.19.
The 33-year-old has lost three straight starts with 11 runs allowed over that span of 16 innings as his record fell to 3-5. His next scheduled outing comes Sunday at San Francisco.

(5/17/13) Rockies starter Jon Garland was not pleased about coming out of the game after five innings against the Cubs on Wednesday. He told MLB.com that he is ready for deeper pitch counts.
Garland is nearly two years removed from Tommy John surgery, which is why manager Walt Weis is still hesitant to keep the 33-year-old out deeper into games. Weis also wants to preserve his pitchers after an injury-plagued 2012 campaign.
"There's some history to the philosophies here," Weiss said. "There's a track record. We also have four guys in our rotation who are coming off injury-riddled seasons where they missed most of the year last year. I don't think it's anything extreme what we're doing. Our starters have gotten a chance to go. They're typically in the 90-100 range, and that's plenty of time to get through a game."
Garland, who threw 93 pitches his last time out, is 3-4 with a 4.89 ERA through his first eight starts of the season. He is scheduled to start Monday against the Diamondbacks.

(5/15/13) Rockies starter Jon Garland lasted fewer than six frames for the third straight outing on Wednesday night against the Cubs. He allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings of work in a 6-3 loss.
Garland surrendered a solo home run to David DeJesus in the first before his counterpart -- Jeff Samardzija -- launched a two-run homer off the right-hander the following frame. He cruised after that and was done after throwing 93 pitches, 58 for strikes.
The 33-year-old also struck out four and walked one while taking his fourth loss.
His next start is scheduled for Monday against the Diamondbacks. When Garland faced Arizona on April 28, he allowed four runs (three earned) over six innings in the loss.

(5/10/13) Rockies pitcher Jon Garland turned in a decent outing but dropped his third decision of the year during Friday's contest against the Cardinals.
Garland (3-3), who made his seventh start of the season, was outdueled by Shelby Miller, who tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout.
Garland served up a solo home run to Carlos Beltran in the third. The right-hander was charged with three runs and seven hits over five innings of work in a 3-0 defeat. He struck out five and walked three in 99 pitches, 58 strikes.
Garland has lost three of his last four decisions. He has allowed 16 runs -- 15 earned -- in 22 innings during that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday on the road against the Cubs. The 33-year-old has a 5.29 ERA away from Coors Field.

(5/5/13) Rockies pitcher Jon Garland turned in a decent performance as he came away with his third victory of the season Saturday night against the Rays.
Garland (3-2), who made his sixth start of the season, surrendered a run-scoring double to James Loney and a two-run single to Kelly Johnson in the third for his only damage of the night. The right-hander gave up three runs and seven hits over five innings of work in a 9-3 win. He struck out two and walked one in 93 pitches, 61 strikes.
Garland picked up his first win since April 18. He has allowed three runs or fewer in five of his first six starts. The 33-year-old has a 4.75 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. He is projected to make his next scheduled start Friday at St. Louis. In his previous outing at Busch Stadium, he allowed four runs and five hits over seven innings.
