Quintero pulled after hit to head: Royals catcher Humberto Quintero was unable to finish Thursdays game against the Orioles, as he had to be pulled during the eighth inning after being hit in the head by a thrown ball while running the bases. "We took him out kind of for precautionary reasons," Yost said. "He got a little dizzy when he got to second base, but he was fine. The umpire asked him, 'What day is it?' and he said Thursday right away. And he stumped me because I didn't even know what day it was. So he was doing better than I did. He's fine. We just ran him through all the precautionary tests and no side effects." Quintero finished the game 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored. (Updated 05/17/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Quintero has been receiving most of the playing time this season behind the plate, and it sounds like the team does not expect him to have to miss much time as a result of this. He is hitting just .250 on the season, so he should be considered more of an AL-only Fantasy option, when healthy. (Updated 05/17/2012).

If the Royals are willing to field offers on Jonathan Broxton, the 27-year-old closer could be one of the more sought-after players on the July trade market. But club officials draw a comparison to Jeff Francoeur, and say that they like Broxton enough (and he likes them enough) that they may decide to sign him rather than trade him.

Royals left-hander Danny Duffy, who was forced to leave his start against the White Sox on Sunday, will have an MRI on his ailing left elbow.
Humberto Quintero continued to underwhelm with the bat a year ago as he hit .240 with two home runs and 25 RBI in 262 at-bats. He split catching duties behind the plate and that will likely be his role again in 2012. The Astros want Jason Castro to take over the backstop duties, but since he is coming back from both knee and foot injuries, he is not guaranteed to be ready for the start of the season. Quintero, a career .234 hitter, will likely see a fair amount of playing time this season but given his limited offensive upside, leave him for the deepest of NL-only formats on Draft Day.
