Preseason Outlook

Furcal's hit streak sits at 11: From The Sports Xchange notes: SS Rafael Furcal extended his hitting streak to 11, but much of Sunday's focus was on his poor fielding. Furcal was in the middle of the Pirates' four-run game-winning rally in the ninth inning with two miscues. He first booted a potential double-play grounder and then threw wide on a force play for an error. Furcal was out of the lineup Monday, but manager Joe Torre said he was due a day off.

Fantasy Analysis

Furcal has mostly been a low-end mixed league shortstop this season, but he finished strong and will be a decent veteran fall-back option in the latter rounds of 2010. Clearly, he is a long way past his prime, though.
