| Jeurys Familia moved to disabled list |

(5/12/13) The Mets placed pitcher Jeurys Familia on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after being troubled by tendinitis in his right biceps since last week. The move is retroactive to May 9, the day after Familia made his last appearance when he was tagged for a homer against the White Sox -- the second game in a row he surrendered a home run.

(5/10/13) Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia is unlikely to play during the remainder of the team's series against Pittsburgh due to biceps tendinitis that could be the precursor of arm fatigue, manager Terry Collins told ESPN.com on Friday. Familia's velocity was noticeably down in his last appearance Wednesday and Collins did not rule out a trip to the disabled list for the right-hander.
"When you start to get fatigued, that's the first place it sets in," Collins said about the biceps. "We'll just give him another day and see how he is [Saturday]. He brought it up two days ago after the game, that he couldn't really let his fastball go. That was the first we heard about it."

(5/5/13) With a perfect inning of work Friday at Atlanta to help him notch the first save of his career, pitcher Jeurys Familia offered a glimpse of the potential the Mets are hoping he can showcase in the future. Familia, a hard-throwing righty, extended his scoreless streak to seven innings and sliced his ERA to 2.45.
"I thought the other night was a big step forward for him, coming into that game to get his first save," manager Terry Collins told MLB.com on Sunday. "Certainly he's the future down the road. He's the guy that everybody looks at to be a back-end-of-the-bullpen kind of a guy. Has he moved up? I think we'll pick our spots for him."

(4/17/13) The Mets have recalled pitcher Jeurys Familia from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced.
Familia, 23, ranked eighth among Mets prospects entering the season according to Baseball America. The Mets moved Familia to the bullpen this season after he made 109 starts in his previous 110 minor league outings. In his four appearances at Las Vegas covering five innings, Familia has not allowed a run, with five hits allowed and a walk against four strikeouts.
He will replace Greg Burke, who was optioned down to Las Vegas, in the bullpen.

(4/6/13) The Mets optioned pitcher Jeurys Familia to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday to create a vacancy on the active roster for Aaron Laffey, who is expected to start Sunday's series finale against Miami. Familia made just one appearance in New York's first five games this season.
