Archer's promotion on hold: Rays pitcher Alex Cobb is scheduled to start Saturday's game against Atlanta, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Cobb will be recalled from Triple-A Durham and take the spot left by Jeff Niemann, who was placed on the disabled list with a fractured fibula and is expected to miss four to six weeks. The Rays also considered fellow minor-league pitcher Chris Archer for the position in order to keep Wade Davis in the bullpen. (Updated 05/18/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
With Niemann slated to be sidelined at least a month with his injury, Archer could still land in the majors at some point if Cobb struggles. The right-hander has registered a 3-4 record with a 4.71 ERA in eight starts at Durham this season. He has struggled with his command early this year and owns a subpar strikeout-to-walk ratio of 40-to-28. Fantasy owners in seasonal formats should continue to leave Archer on waivers for now.
