D-Backs' Paul Goldschmidt goes deep in back-to-back games
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(4/17/15) Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt homered for the second time in as many days Thursday night against San Francisco.
Goldschmidt took Madison Bumgarner deep for a three-run home run in the fifth inning. He finished 1 for 5 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI in a 7-6 win in 11 innings. He is hitting .324 (12 for 37) with four homers and 12 RBI in 10 games.
Goldschmidt has homered in at least back-to-back games 14 times in his career. He's has only hit a home run in three straight games once. He'll get a crack at it Friday night against Jake Peavy and the Giants. He has a home run in two at-bats against the right-hander.
Home run marks the 500th hit of Paul Goldschmidt's career

|(4/16/15) Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt wasted little time Wednesday getting Arizona on the scoreboard, as he connected for a two-run homer off Padres starting pitcher Brandon Morrow in the bottom of the first inning.
"Just trying to put the ball in play," he said, per MLB.com. "I was able to get a ball kind of up and out, over, and get enough of it to get it out of there."
The home run marked the 500th hit of Goldschmidt's career. However, he wasn't in the mood to talk about the career milestone after the game since Arizona ended up taking a 3-2 loss.
"Honestly, no," he said when asked if the 500 hits meant anything to him. "I wouldn't have known unless you said something or somebody said something to me after the game. Just out there, we're trying to get wins, and we weren't able to do it tonight."

D-backs 1B Paul Goldschmidt drives in two in win over White Sox
|by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com|
|(4/2/15) Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit two doubles in Thursday's 10-2 win over the White Sox. He was also responsible for driving in two runs off of those hits.
Goldschmidt, 27, is batting .292 in his career with 83 home runs and 302 RBI.
|2014 summary: Paul Goldschmidt was on his way to another MVP-caliber season when a pitch fractured his left hand, ending his season two months prematurely. In 109 games, Goldschmidt batted .300 with 19 home runs, 69 RBI and nine stolen bases. Despite missing almost one-third of the season, Goldschmidt finished 13th among first basemen in Rotisserie value and 15th in Fantasy points.|
Playing time status: Goldschmidt actually resumed taking batting practice during the final series of the season, and he is expected to be fully ready for Diamondbacks spring training.
2015 outlook: There was no regression from Goldschmidt's 2013 breakout, as he was roughly on pace to bat .300, post a .400 on-base percentage and hit 30 home runs. Owners should count on similar production this season -- and this time, for the full season -- and they should plan on using one of the first six picks overall to draft him in mixed leagues.
