| Angels' top prospect off to rough start |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/6/13) Angels third base prospect Kaleb Cowart managed a season-high three hits Sunday for Double-A Arkansas, raising his season average up to .200. It was just his fifth multi-hit game of the season.
Cowart is having a rough start. On top of a .200 average, he has just a .324 slugging percentage and .593 OPS in 29 games. Cowart has managed two home runs, four stolen bases, seven doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs. Cowart is considered the Angels' top prospect by MLB.com.

| Top prospect Kaleb Cowart triples in Angels' win |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (3/27/13) Angels top prospect Kaleb Cowart singled and tripled in his two plate appearances against the Rangers Wednesday, collecting two RBI in his team's 6-3 win and pushing his average to .348. The third baseman is still far away from seeing regular time at the major-league level in the regular season despite his hot spring.

| Cowart won't be rushed by Angels |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (2/9/13) The Angels are a pretty deep team this season with lots of young talent and that will allow some of the club's top prospects to be brought along more slowly, reports MLB.com Saturday. Top prospect and third baseman Kaleb Cowart is invited to big league spring training, but he should start the year at Double-A Arkansas.

| Cowart invited to camp |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (1/14/13) The Angels announced Monday third base prospect Kaleb Cowart will be a non-roster invitee to spring training. Cowart is considered the team's top prospect by Baseball America and MLB.com.
|
| The Angels were one of the few teams willing to commit to Kaleb Cowart as an everyday player rather than a pitcher in the 2010 draft, and he rewarded them with a breakout season between two levels of Class A last year. A switch hitter, he hit 14 of his 16 home runs from the left side, which had been his weaker side coming into the season. He also improved his walk rate, finishing with a respectable .358 on-base percentage. He's hardly a finished product, but as long as he's able to continue building off the strides he made in the lower levels of the minors last year, he should make a relevant contribution in Fantasy when he's ready to ascend to the majors two or three years from now. Among the long-term keeper options at third base, Cowart's ceiling isn't the highest, but he's among the most likely to hold down a regular job at the major-league level. (Updated 1/2/13) |
