| Reliever Chance Ruffin being converted into a starting pitcher |

(3/27/13) The Mariners are converting reliever Chance Ruffin into a starting pitcher, according to the team's Triple-A affiliate's radio announcer Mike Curto, who notes that Ruffin hasn't pitched as a starter since his sophomore year at the University of Texas. Ruffin allowed three earned runs in three innings of work this spring and may open the season at the Double-A level.

(8/17/11) RP Chance Ruffin was officially named as the player to be named later in the trade that sent SP Doug Fister and RP David Pauley to the Tigers. In addition to Ruffin, Seattle received SP Charlie Furbush, OF Casper Wells and minor league 3B Francisco Martinez. Ruffin will join the Mariners' bullpen for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, and in a corresponding move, RP Aaron Laffey was designated for assignment.
