| Bryce Harper to resume baseball activities in 'next day or two' |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (6/19/13) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will resume baseball activities within the next day or two, The Washington Post reports. Harper has been suffering from left knee bursitis since May 20.
There is still no timetable for his return to game action. He will still need a rehab assignment, so he's likely at least two weeks away from a return, if not longer.

| Bryce Harper cleared to increase activity |
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (6/17/13) Nationals outfidler Bryce Harper met with a team doctor Monday, and has been cleared to resume his rehab, according to CSNWashington.com.
Harper will begin jogging and running in order to strenghten his knee. Harper has been treated with cortisone shots, which seem to be working. The team will allow Harper's progress to set his timetable. If he improves quickly, they will continue increasing his workload at the same pace.

| Bryce Harper suffers minor setback |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (6/16/13) Nationals manager Davey Johnson told MLB.com Saturday that outfielder Bryce Harper suffered a minor setback recently.
Harper, who is recovering from left knee bursitis, developed puffiness in his left knee while exercising his lower body. The Nationals remain hopeful that the 20-year-old could resume baseball activities sometime next week. Harper has been sidelined since May 26 with the injury.

| Bryce Harper to be re-evaluated soon |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (6/14/13) Nationals manager Davey Johnson told The Washington Post Friday that outfielder Bryce Harper is still resting his knee and will likely be re-evaluated at the start of the week in Philadelphia.
Barring any setbacks, Harper is expected to start his minor-league rehab assignment and return in just over a week. Harper has been sidelined since May 26 with a knee injury. He hit .287/.386/.587 with 12 homers and 23 RBI in 44 games.

| Bryce Harper to rest for a week in cast |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (6/11/13) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper had a platelet-rich plasma injection and cortisone shot in his left knee, after Dr. James Andrews confirmed the team's diagnosis of patella bursitis, according to The Washington Times.
Harper, who has been dealing with swelling and inflammation for two weeks as a result of the injury, will be in a large brace for at least a week. The brace is just to immobilize his knee while he rests. Nationals head trainer Lee Kuntz said that the team is pleased with the state of Harper's injury, especially since he did not require any type of surgical fix.
“He didn't have surgery, contrary to popular belief," Kuntz said. "These are all good things. We want him to rest the knee, that's why we put him in the immobilizer. We'll re-evaluate him in one week's time and if everything's a go, then we will resume activity with him and get him going as quickly as we can."
Harper has been out since May 26 due to this injury, and he will likely need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment once he is cleared for baseball activities next week.

| After quick and less-than-impressive stints in Double-A and Triple-A, Bryce Harper made his major league debut with the Nationals late last April at age 19. Given his struggles in the upper minors, many expected Harper to fall flat in his first exposure to big league pitching. Instead, Harper got off to a fast start, batting .307 with seven home runs in his first 40 games, earning a spot on the National League All-Star team. He did suffer something of a midseason swoon, but he finished strong and captured the NL Rookie of the Year award. Though Harper's final batting average was a middling .270, his 22 home runs, 18 stolen bases and 98 runs produced in five months were nothing short of incredible for a player who didn't turn 20 until October. In an abbreviated season, Harper was a top 30 outfielder in standard Rotisserie and Head-to-Head formats. Even if you consider the possibility of a sophomore slump, you can pencil Harper into your top 30 again for 2013 -- and that could wind up being a very conservative ranking. (Updated 12/11/12) |
