McGuire remains on target: Following an adventurous first season in the minors, Toronto starting pitcher Deck McGuire said he is looking forward to the new campaign. McGuire started the year with Class A Dunedin before winning a championship with Double-A New Hampshire. He compiled a 9-5 record and 3.02 ERA between the two stops. "I definitely feel more comfortable," he told the Toronto Sun. "Having played with some of the guys now and having met most of the older players last year, it makes it easier to settle in, less anxiety and a little bit more focus on what needs to be done." Fantasy Analysis
McGuire could start the 2012 campaign in New Hampshire, but could ascend to Triple-A Las Vegas with a solid start. The Blue Jays are hoping he can join the big-league club in 2013. "Im prepared to take everything as it comes," McGuire said. "My big thing is to try to get better each time out, make my adjustments on the fly and just try not to take any steps backward. The rest will take care of itself." The former Georgia Tech standout is considered one of Toronto's top pitching prospects and should be viewed as a quality long-term Fantasy keeper.
