Pestano owns Cleveland record: Cleveland reliever Vinnie Pestano has registered at least one strikeout in 22 consecutive games, dating back to last season, reports MLB.com on Wednesday. That establishes a record for the Cleveland franchise dating back to 1918. "It doesn't mean a thing," Pestano said. "I knew about it. There had been speculation and talk about it. I knew I had tied it last time out, but I try and strike everybody out, so it's not like I was going out there doing something different than I normally do." (Updated 05/23/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Pestano's accomplishment means little, though it shows how impressive he's been at his job. Pestano has recorded 11 holds this season with a 1-0 record and a solid 2.55 ERA. That said, in his current role, Pestano only has low-end Fantasy value in leagues that reward for holds. (Updated 05/23/2012).

Jason Kipnis had three hits and scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2 Wednesday night.
05/22/2012 22:25 Cheered Perez gets job done for Indians
Chris Perez, greeted by a standing ovation from the time he left the bullpen, worked another scary ninth inning for his 14th save as the Cleveland Indians ended a 10-game losing streak to Detroit with a 5-3 win over the Tigers on Tuesday night.
Despite pitching full-time for the first time in his career, Cleveland relief pitcher Vinnie Pestano served as one of the American League's most unheralded setup men last season. Pestano, who turned 27 years old during the offseason, appeared in 67 games as a rookie and posted a glossy 2.32 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. He also finished with 23 holds -- tied for eighth most in the AL -- in front of Indians closer Chris Perez, but his most glowing attribute was his strikeout total. The right-hander fanned a staggering 84 batters in 62 innings pitched as he held opponents to a lowly .184 batting average. Pestano also recorded two saves in Perez's absence and could receive more opportunities this season as Perez has shown a history of injury problems. For now, Pestano should be viewed as a late-round option in AL-only Fantasy drafts that reward points for middle relievers. (Updated 3/5/12)
