| Padres option Brad Brach to Triple-A |

(5/18/13) The Padres optioned reliever Brad Brach to Triple-A Tucson Saturday to make room for Carlos Quentin, who returned from paternity leave.
Brach struck out 17 and walked eight and had a 4.76 ERA through 17 innings with the Padres.

| (2/20/13) Padres reliever Brad Brach enjoyed a productive rookie campaign a year ago. He held opponents to the third-lowest batting average among rookies (.207) and struck out 75 in 66 2/3 innings pitched. The right-hander told MLB.com on Wednesday that he plans on trying to get hitters to expand the strikezone in 2013. "Last year in the beginning of the year, I had a little trouble throwing strikes. So they emphasized being in the zone," Brach said. "But I think being in the zone too much can get you in trouble. Sometimes you have got to expand. I think expanding the zone can be a good part of my arsenal."
