Twins' Chris Herrmann (head) back in lineup Saturday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/11/15) Twins catcher Chris Herrmann is in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Herrmann came out of Thursday's game after taking a foul tip off his mask and was held out of action Friday. He's set to bat seventh Saturday against Opening Day starter Jeff Samardzija.

Twins' Chris Herrmann not in lineup Friday, could be back Saturday

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/10/15) Twins outfielder Chris Herrmann was not included in Minnesota's starting lineup Friday against the White Sox, per MLB.com. Herrmann was removed from Thursday's contest after taking a foul tip off his mask. He passed a concussion test after the game. Kurt Suzuki got the start and is hitting eighth in the batting order.

Manager Paul Molitor indicated Friday that Herrmann could be back in the lineup Saturday, per the Pioneer Press.

Twins' Herrmann removed from game for precautionary reasons

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(4/9/15) Twins outfielder Chris Herrmann was removed from Thursday's game due to precautionary reasons, said general manager Terry Ryan, according to MLB.com. Ryan added that Herrmann did undergo a concussion test and passed, stating that he is fine.

Herrmann suffered a cut above his nose in the first inning due to a foul tip off his mask on the first pitch of the game, reports the Star Tribune.

“Just knowing you’re bleeding, especially from your face, it just kind of freaked me out,” Herrmann said. “Just a freak accident. But everything is fine.”

Twins' Suzuki gets a day off Thursday after a rough day Wednesday

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/9/15) Twins manager Paul Molitor circled Thursday's game against the Tigers as a day to potentially rest catcher Kurt Suzuki. His decision got a lot easier after Suzuki took a breaking ball off his right thumb while trying to block a pitch in the dirt Wednesday. He also fouled a pitch off his left instep.

"He got a little beat up," Molitor said, per the Pioneer Press. "He's fine. He's a guy who can play nicked up. We saw that last year. Kurt loves to catch. He wants to catch as many games as he can."

Chris Herrmann drew the start Thursday at catcher.

Twins C Chris Herrmann is excited about making roster

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(4/3/15) Twins catcher Chris Herrmann has made the roster as the backup catcher. Herrmann is very excited about having the opportunity, reports MLB.com.

"My heart's still pounding right now. This is something I've never felt ever before," said a visibly-excited Herrmann nearly an hour after learning he had made the first Opening Day roster of his career. "I didn't have a clue. I'm so used to getting sent back down."

Manager Paul Molitor confirmed the catcher's excitement saying, "Chris was very elated about the opportunity."

"With Chris, I do have a little more flexibility," said Molitor of Herrmann, who hit .310 with a home run and five RBI's in 42 Grapefruit League at-bats.

Herrmann's versatility played a large role in him being placed on the roster.

"I think it's huge," said the Twins' backup catcher. "Molly's been sticking me at first base a lot this spring and I feel like I've done a pretty good job. Every team needs somebody who's a versatile player, so it's good that I can play multiple positions just to help out this team."

Although Herrmann is excited about his chance to contribute for the team, he knows what he has gone through to get to this point.

"I think it's huge," said the Twins' backup catcher. "Molly's been sticking me at first base a lot this spring and I feel like I've done a pretty good job. Every team needs somebody who's a versatile player, so it's good that I can play multiple positions just to help out this team."

Herrmann batted .300 with one home run on 12 hits with four RBI, eight strikeouts and four walks this spring.
