| Mark Ellis starts immediately after activation |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/19/13) The Dodgers activated second baseman Mark Ellis (quadriceps) from the 15-day disabled list Sunday. He was immediately put in the starting lineup against the Braves, batting second.

| Mark Ellis might be activated Sunday |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/19/13) Dodgers manager Don Mattingly reversed course Sunday morning and said second baseman Mark Ellis, who has been rehabbing a right quadriceps strain at Double-A Chattanooga, might have to come off the 15-day disabled list because infielder Luis Cruz is nursing a sore elbow. Mattingly indicated Saturday Ellis wasn't expected to come off the disabled list Sunday.
Ellis is 0 for 4 with a run scored, a walk and two strikeouts in two rehab games.

| Mark Ellis not coming off DL yet |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/18/13) Dodgers infielder Mark Ellis is not expected to be activated Sunday from the disabled list, manager Don Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times. He will join the team in Milwaukee, but the team is still trying to figure out whether he will need additional time to heal.
Ellis is expected to play six innings in Double-A Saturday as part of his minor-league rehab assignment. He has been out since late April with a right quad strain.

| Mark Ellis leaves rehab early due to rainy conditions |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/18/13) Dodgers second baseman Mark Ellis left his rehab outing a little earlier than planned because of wet conditions on the field, according to The Orange County Register. The team chose to take a cautious approach with the 35-year-old on a rainy night.
Ellis went 0 for 1 before departing Friday's game at Double-A Chattanooga.

| Mark Ellis leaves rehab game early |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (5/17/13) Dodgers second baseman Mark Ellis started his minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga Friday, but was removed after three innings and one at-bat.
The Dodgers have yet to announce the cause for his departure. Ellis could rejoin the club Sunday or Monday. Manager Don Mattingly did not appear to be concerned about rushing him through rehab prior to Friday's game.
"He knows the circumstances if he comes back and goes down again," Mattingly said.

| Mark Ellis was never a huge contributor offensively, but at age 35, the modest power he used to provide is now effectively zilch. His slugging percentage over the last three seasons is .363. The Dodgers may not have minded taking whatever he gave him last year, but now that they have hundreds of millions of dollars invested in their immediate future, you can expect them to hold their second baseman to a higher standard in 2013. To that end, they acquired Skip Schumaker from the Cardinals in the offseason, presumably to play against right-handed pitchers. Ellis hit .321 with an .877 OPS against lefties last year, so they wouldn't want to remove from the picture entirely. Of course, if he was barely relevant in Fantasy as a full-timer, he'll make nary a dent as a part-timer. Unless you get desperate for a middle infielder in an NL-only league, you can ignore Ellis on Draft Day. (Updated 1/9/13) |
