|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(7/28/14) Astros second baseman Jose Altuve hit his fourth home run Sunday against the Marlins.
In his first at-bat Altuve took a 91 mph fastball out to left for a left field for a solo shot. The play was reviewed, but the ruling was ultimately upheld. Altuve would also single twice later in the contest. Altuve finished 3 for 4, with one run scored and one RBI.

(7/15/14) Astros second baseman Jose Altuve has stolen an American League-best 41 bases while getting caught just three times in the first half of the season.
Altuve enjoyed an incredible stretch at the end of June when he stole at least one base in seven straight games while also recording four straight two-steal games during his streak. He's managed just four steals in the first half of July, with all coming during a three-game span. Altuve has been much more than just a stolen-base threat, collecting a major-league-best 130 hits in the first half while posting a .335/.373/.436 line with two home runs and 27 RBI in 288 at-bats.

|Jose Altuve (elbow) doesn't miss a game |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(7/1/14) Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Mariners. Altuve was dealing with a swollen left elbow following Monday's game.
Altuve is batting .463 (31 for 67) with a .500 on-base percentage, .552 slugging percentage and 1.052 OPS in his last 17 games. He has 14 stolen bases in that span.
|After emerging as a Fantasy mainstay with his performance in 2012, Jose Altuve didn't take the step forward so many Fantasy owners thought he would last year. In fact, his batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage all fell, leaving him with a .678 OPS that ranked 126th among the 140 players with enough at-bats to qualify. But the good news is he maintained in the one area that matters most to Fantasy owners, stolen bases. His 35 helped make him the eighth-best second baseman in Rotisserie leagues and the 11th-best in Head-to-Head despite his shortcomings. So ultimately, where you target Altuve on Draft Day depends both on your scoring format and what you perceive his 2013 to be. If you think it represented the downside for him, then he still has the potential to be one of the best second basemen in Fantasy. He's only 23, after all, and despite his tiny frame, he has shown doubles pop. Who's to say he won't be capable of a dozen or more homers someday? He hit 15 one year in the minors. Plus, as the leadoff hitter for the Astros, he'll improve as the lineup around him improves. With a step forward in 2014, if only back to his 2012 numbers, he'll be a value in the middle rounds, assuming he even lasts that long in Rotisserie.
