Catricala getting timing down: Seattle third base prospect Vinnie Catricala impressed during an instrasquad game on Monday, reports MLB.com. With the Mariners expected to take a long look at the prospect, Catricala slugged a home run and a double in his two at-bats. "Sure, it's an intrasquad game and there's not that many people out there," the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder from the University of Hawaii said on Monday. "But you're still out there playing, and it's still a game atmosphere at full speed and everything." (Updated 02/27/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Catricala is an intriguing prospect, and with the competition for third base being opened up, he has an outside shot to make the team's roster for opening day. For now, Catricala is more of a keeper league option, but his progress this spring is worth watching. He could be a viable alternative in AL-only leagues this year. (Updated 02/27/2012).
