| Mark DeRosa's playing time on the rise |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/9/13) Blue Jays infielder Mark DeRosa started for the second time in four games and drew his first start at second base Wednesday against the Rays. He's now appeared in five straight games for Toronto, batting .417 (5 for 12) with two walks, two doubles, two home runs, four runs and six RBI.
"DeRo had a good spring," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said, per MLB.com. "He came in from the get-go, swinging the bat well. One thing about him, he's a steady defender as well. If he gets to it, you're out. And he gets you a good at-bat every time he's up there."

| Mark DeRosa, Maicer Izturis to split time at 3B |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (3/25/13) Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said he expects to have a rotation at third base to open the season now that Brett Lawrie will begin the year on the disabled list, reports MLB.com Monday.
Toronto expects to have a combination of Mark DeRosa and Maicer Izturis at third base while Emilio Bonifacio concentrates on playing everyday second base.
DeRosa, 38, has homered twice this spring with seven RBI and a .471 batting average over 34 at-bats. He struggled last year with Washington over 85 at-bats as he hit just .188, but he's getting another opportunity in the American League.
Izturis, who was expected to split time at second with Bonifacio with Lawrie healthy, has hit .239 this spring over 46 at-bats with nine RBI.
