Hairston kicks off rehab stint: Dodgers utility player Jerry Hairston, on the 15-day disabled list due to a hamstring injury, began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque Wednesday. He went 0 for 3 while playing left field. (Updated 05/24/2012)
Hairston will likely need just another game or two before being ready to return so keep an eye on his progress in the coming days. He was batting .315 with one homer and four RBI before going down and with all of the injuries Los Angeles has sustained recently, the 35-year-old could see some increased playing time upon returning. Hairston remains more of an option for deeper NL-only formats, when healthy. (Updated 05/24/2012).

04/28/2012 21:41 Bryce Harper drives in go-ahead run in 9th for Nationals
Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper grounded out to pitcher Chad Billingsley in his first big-league at bat Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, but doubled in the seventh for his first hit and then hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to put the Nationals up 2-1.
Jerry Hairston served in his usual super-utility role for the Nationals and Brewers last season, but surprisingly, he became Milwaukee's starting third baseman over the final days of the season. He continued to play as a regular in the postseason, but this year, Hairston will go back to his bench role, this time with the Dodgers. That is not to say Hairston won't see playing time; without an established left fielder, and with injury-prone Mark Ellis and Juan Uribe occupying half of the infield, Hairston could be something close to a regular. Even so, Hairston has little to offer mixed league owners, but his moderate power, potential for a decent on-base percentage and versatility provide some appeal in NL-only leagues. (Updated 2/6/12)
