Fantasy Analysis
Hairston spent the first seven seasons of his career with Baltimore before never spending more than one full season elsewhere. He posted a .270 batting average last season between Washington and Milwaukee, playing five different defensive positions. While he may not start everyday, he could see several at-bats with Los Angeles next year. Consider him a low-end option in NL-only Fantasy formats during 2012 drafts. (Updated 12/05/2011).

Jerry Hairston served in his usual super-utility role for the Nationals and Brewers last season, but surprisingly, he became Milwaukee's starting third baseman over the final days of the season. He continued to play as a regular in the postseason, but this year, Hairston will go back to his bench role, this time with the Dodgers. That is not to say Hairston won't see playing time; without an established left fielder, and with injury-prone Mark Ellis and Juan Uribe occupying half of the infield, Hairston could be something close to a regular. Even so, Hairston has little to offer mixed league owners, but his moderate power, potential for a decent on-base percentage and versatility provide some appeal in NL-only leagues. (Updated 2/6/12)
