The 35-year-old Mientkiewicz was attempting a comeback from a separated shoulder that required surgery last season and limited him to 18 at-bats for the Dodgers. Manager Joe Torre said Mientkiewicz expressed an interest in continuing his career. He was excused from camp Saturday so he could weigh his options. |

Dodgers put Mientkiewicz on DL, recall DeWitt
LOS ANGELES-The Los Angeles Dodgers placed utilityman Doug Mientkiewicz on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a separated right shoulder and recalled infielder Blake DeWitt from Triple-A Albuquerque.
